Summerfield, Tigard. Summerfield is a planned, 55+ retirement community in Tigard, Oregon, that is built around a beautiful, par 33, 2475 total yards, nine -hole golf course. Built on 203 acres starting in 1973, it is a mixture of single family homes, townhomes, condos and apartments. Summerfield has 40 acres dedicated to recreation which consists of a 24,000 square foot Clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming pool, green spaces and walking paths. There are approximately 1700 residents in this community and the annual assessment entitles residents to use all of the facilities. Summerfield is well maintained and it is evident that the residents have “pride of ownership”. Very nice single family homes start around $185,000, with most being in the $250,000 to $325,000 range. The homes that line the golf course command a premium.
Also part of this community is the Summerfield Retirement Estates. This is an independent living retirement facility that has the use of all the amenities in Summerfield.
Summerfield is within five minutes of nearby shopping, restaurants, post office, banks, drug stores, and health care providers. Superb shopping at Washington Square and Bridgeport Plaza is 15 minutes away. The commute to downtown Portland is about 25 minutes and the Portland Airport is about 40 minutes away. Within walking distance is Cook Park. Cook Park is 79 acres next to the Tualatin River that is a sanctuary for waterfowl and wildlife and has many walking paths and a foot bridge over the river.
Summerfield’s convenient location, along with it’s recreational and social activities, would certainly make this community consideration for anyone wanting to retire and remain active.
