Golf Courses Around Tigard:
Summerfield – This is a low priced 9 hole public course, all par 3’s, that is the centerpiece of a retirement community. It is very well maintained and surrounded by equally well maintained homes.
King City – This is a 9 hole public course, all par 3’s, that is relatively flat with few hazards and is surrounded by homes in a 55+ community. This well maintained course is low priced and easy to play.
Red Tail – This 18 hole public course is moderately priced and challenges your golf game no matter what your ability. This easily walked course offers rolling hills, water hazards, tree lined fairways, and is essentially a wild life sanctuary located within a city. The ponds are loaded with ducks, geese, and herons. I saw a pair of bald eagles there this year (2014). There are also resident coyotes. They do not bother people because the area is like a buffet table to them. They have plenty to eat. Red Tail is a reference to the hawks that live in the area. This is the most played course in the Portland area.
